Ethan

Ethan Ho is an accomplished and internationally recognized cellist and music educator, known for his artistry and dedication to music performance and instruction. He has performed as soloist and ensemble leaders extensively across North America and Asia, and has held leading roles as Principal Cellist with the South Valley Civic Theater Orchestra, San Jose State University Symphony, Serenade Event Orchestra, De Anza Chamber Orchestra, Saint Paul Lutheran Orchestra (MO), and STBC Symphony. He also served as Associate Principal Cellist of the Mission Chamber Orchestra.

Ethan began his cello journey under the tutelage of the celebrated cellist Tung Hui-Lu, studying with him for over ten years. He later refined his craft under the mentorship of renowned conservatory professors Peter Gelfand, Evan Kahn, and Michael Dahlberg. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance from San Jose State University and an ABRSM Grade 8 Certificate in Cello Performance.

A passionate and dedicated music educator since 2015, Ethan has built a vibrant teaching career, maintaining private studios in California, Missouri, and Hong Kong. He is frequently invited to coach orchestras, chamber ensembles, student musicians, and church music teams. His teaching reflects a balance of technical excellence and expressive artistry, inspiring students of all ages and backgrounds.

While cello and education are at the heart of his career, Ethan is also an experienced conductor. He studied orchestral and choral conducting with Dr. Angel Chi Oi Chan, Dr. Jeffery Benson, and Dr. David Vickerman. Currently, he serves as Music Director of the California Cantonese United Christian Chorus and is regularly invited as a guest conductor by ensembles such as the HKACM Choir, Immanuel Worshiper SF Bay Area Choir, SJSU Symphony Orchestra, and De Anza Chamber Orchestra.

Outside the classical realm, Ethan enjoys playing acoustic and bass guitar, frequently performing in pop and gospel music settings. He is a passionate moviegoer and a dedicated collector of film memorabilia and replicas, especially from the Harry Potter and Star Wars franchises. A devoted sports enthusiast, Ethan follows basketball, football, Formula 1, and a variety of other sports with great interest.
