Private Lesson Terms and Conditions

   By joining the Mermi Music Academy, you agree to the terms and conditions below.

  1. COMMUNICATION: All correspondence from students to Mermi Music Academy should be directed to info@mermimusic.ca. As there is no physical office on-site, email is the most efficient and preferred means of communication with the administrator. For emergencies only, please call (604)240-4263.

  2. PAYMENT: Music instruction fees are invoiced per month and payable in advance, in full, by the due date stated on your invoice. Payments are accepted via EFT or cash. Mermi Music Academy implements an annual fee adjustment effective July 1st.

  3. LESSON PACKAGES:

  • Weekly lessons are charged at the regular rate.

  • For students booking two lessons a month, the rate is $10 more per lesson than the weekly lesson rate.

  • Students booking fewer than three sessions in a month are considered under the two-session package and will pay an additional $10 per session.

  • A 10% discount is applied for students enrolled for three consecutive months.

  1. CANCELLATIONS AND SPOT RESERVATION: If a student cancels lessons for a month, they must book the next month’s lessons in advance to secure their spot with the same teacher. Failure to do so may result in losing the same time slot and teacher. These policies ensure we can plan schedules effectively and fairly for all students and teachers.

  2. ABSENTEES & CANCELLATIONS:

  • Rescheduling is allowed only for sickness cancellations if notice is given before 11:00 AM on the same day.

  • Credits for canceled lessons will not be forwarded to the next month’s invoice but will instead be issued as a make-up credit.

  • Make-up credits expire after 30 days and cannot be guaranteed with the same teacher.

  • Only one make-up credit is allowed per month.

  • Saturday availability is prioritized for make-up lessons.

  1. RECITAL FEES: Recital fees are charged based on event expenses and range from $20 to $40.

  2. SCHOOL CLOSURE: We are not closed on any long weekends or state Holidays except during the Christmas season.

  3. ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE: An annual registration fee of $25 is required.

  4. CONFIDENTIALITY: Students are prohibited from sharing their contact information with teachers, under Mermi Music Academy's policy.

  5. RELIEF: We reserve the right to provide a relief teacher if your usual teacher is unavailable. Permanent teacher changes may occur, and you will be notified immediately in such cases.

  6. ENROLLMENT: To ensure consistency and musical progress, we assume you will continue with lessons indefinitely. Invoices for the next month are sent approximately one week before the new term begins. If you wish to discontinue lessons, inform us promptly to release your time slot to other students.

  7. REPORTS AND CERTIFICATES: Teachers use our portal to document lesson reports and assignments, which are emailed to families after each session. The academy also features a point-based practice tracker to motivate students. Points earned through consistent practice can be redeemed for awards and prizes throughout the year, fostering a fun and engaging learning experience. Parents may spend 5 minutes discussing their child’s progress with the teacher during the last lesson of each month. Every month we announce the best students of the month and put their pictures on the academy wall.

  8. DISCOUNTS: Families with multiple children attending lessons or students learning two or more instruments are eligible for a 10% discount on the fees of the second, third, etc., student. The first student pays the full fee.

  9. REFUNDS: No refunds are provided for school payments. However, alternative lesson arrangements may be considered. Credits, refunds, and payment plans are authorized solely by the Academy Administrators.

  10. MARKETING POLICY: We celebrate student achievements through photos and videos for promotional purposes. By enrolling, you consent to the use of these visuals on our website, social media, and promotional materials. To opt-out, email us at info@mermimusic.ca, and we will respect your preferences.

  11. REFERRAL POLICY: The Resonate Referral Program offers rewards for referrals. Referring families receive a 10% discount on the next month’s tuition.

  12. LIABILITY: Mermi Music Academy, its teachers, and staff are not liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising directly or indirectly from attendance. Students and parents/guardians agree to indemnify the Academy, its teachers, and staff against such occurrences.
